O’Reilly Development Company purchased land in the City of North Kansas City located in the highly visible and thriving corridor defined by Interstate 35 and Amour. This development presents a unique opportunity to transform a brownfield industrial site into a sustainable, vibrant community in the heart of the Metro. The development will mirror the growth and evolution of North Kansas City – the long-quiet urban borough that sits just north of the Missouri River and is surrounded by downtown Kansas City and Kansas City North. The Backyard at One North will be the residential piece of the One North master development.
Residents will be able to work and play with no more than a few minutes drive or a five-minute bike ride. The Backyard community will consist of 240 apartment units which will include 20 studio units; 146 one-bedroom units with a mix of unit layouts, size and includes a den option; and 74 two-bedroom units.

The Social Lounge is an indoor flex space that opens to the patio via two garage doors. The seamless transition between in and out allows the space to have a multi-purpose function. The Social Lounge hosts the community kitchen with a commercial gas-range stove top, ice maker and mini-fridge. There are multiple TVs, a fireplace, seating areas and WiFi. The Social Lounge is the indoor heart and soul of the community.
Down the corridor will be the next amenity that boosts the development’s active lifestyle goals – the bike
room. This room, with open and modern design language, will have lockers, bike racks and a work station for repairs and maintenance. The area easily accesses the bike share station and the cyclo-tack that is planned for the master development. Notably, this amenity connects to the City of North Kansas City’s biking infrastructure that leads to the growing entertainment amenities of the City.
Across from the Social Lounge is the Café. This area will feature fresh-ground coffee, an espresso machine and two private conference rooms for co-working or tele/video conferencing.
